Android 6.0 Marshmallow is slowly stepping up its user base numbers, with recent stats showing that quite a good number of handsets have been receiving the update.
Top smartphone sellers in the market such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and HTC have been pushing the new Marshmallow update to their compatible devices. This doesn’t mean other players in the industry aren’t doing so as well, even if they rarely catch the headlines.
Those using the Alcatel Idol 3 can rejoice now that the company has started rolling out the new Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to this device. This information was made public through the company’s Twitter account, but there was no confirmation of whether both variants of the Idol 3 will be updated with this new mobile operating system. But of course, if the company was rolling out the update to either the 4.7-inch variant or 5.5-inch variant, it is possible that the update would have been specific to the same. Either way, our hope is that the update will be coming to the two handsets under the Alcatel Idol 3 name.
If you own an unlocked version of the Alcatel Idol 3 and live in the U.S., your device should be receiving the update right now. If you haven’t yet seen the update on your unlocked variant, head to the About phone Settings and check out the updates’ availability. As for other locations, it is not known when Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will begin rolling out to Idol 3 handsets.
Once you update your Alcatel Idol 3 with the new Marshmallow OS, you will start accessing features such as App Standby and Doze mode for better battery management, Google Now on Tap as well as new apps permissions. Furthermore, the update carries the latest June Android Security patch.
