[Updated] Android 7.0 Nougat Rolling out to T-Mobile’s LG Stylo 2 Plus [Turns out it wasn’t a Nougat OTA]

LG Stylo 2 Plus Android 7.0 Nougat

The LG Stylo 2 Plus is currently receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat OS as at the time of this writing, but this is specific to those using T-Mobile.

We had earlier reported that the LG Stylo 2 Plus is receiving Android 7.0 Nougat OTA. As it turns out, this is not a Nougat treat and instead, it is still based on the older Android Marshmallow. However, the phone has now appeared on Geekbench with Android 7.0 Nougat running the show, but the model number LG-K530 confirms that this is a South American variant. Nonetheless, the fact that a variant of the phone is being tested for the same OS is an indicator that it will be rolled out in the coming weeks, if not months.

[End of update]

As you may know, the LG Stylo 2 Plus is not a flagship phone, but T-Mobile is will be rolling out the Nougat dessert to the handset. The phone is exclusive to T-Mobile as well as MetroPCS and if you are using this mode, the OTA notification should come your way sooner or later.

As noted, this is an OTA update, which means it doesn’t reach out to all devices at once. Nonetheless, it won’t be long before you all receive Android 7.0 Nougat. If you can’t wait, try hitting the Settings of your phone and under About phone menu, you should be able to check the availability of the update in the System updates section.

The LG Stylo 2 Plus was unveiled in May 2016 and released in July the same year. As pointed out earlier, the phone is not a flagship and as such, it is a great thing that LG has opted to update it to Android 7.0 Nougat. It comes with a huge 5.7-inch IPS LCD display screen that features a low resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (HD). This screen is protected from scratches and breakings by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 and can accept input through a Stylus.

Under the hood, the LG Stylo 2 Plus ships with a Snapdragon 430 SoC octa-core processor that is paired with a RAM of 2GB and onboard storage of 16GB, but this can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 256GB. Software-wise, it ships with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, hence the new update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
