Android M Updates – AT&T Readying Samsung Galaxy S6 as Sprint Confirms LG G3 Update

Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge and Note 5

According to Google, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently installed on about 5% of all Android devices. This is a very insignificant figure for the latest operating system from Google.

In a bid to make sure that this market share improves, Samsung, the company with the most number of Android smartphones out there, has been very busy with rolling out the new Marshmallow OS to their devices. The journey started with the update appearing on a number of last year’s flagship devices and at the time of this writing, the update has already reached some devices from 2014.

While this is happening, customers at AT&T have been frustrated by the fact that Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been unable to hit their Samsung Galaxy S6 units despite the update having already come to other U.S. carriers. However, the long wait appears to be finally over as the giant South Korean company has confirmed that the carrier will be next in line to receive the Marshmallow update with respect to Samsung Galaxy S6.

The news was published on Samsung’s official support website, claiming that the update was released on April 28, but surprisingly, it is nowhere on AT&T’s site. Nevertheless, the updated Samsung Galaxy S6 will receive version G920AUCU3CPC2 that will come along with features such as Doze, enhanced app permissions, Google Now on Tap as well as more uses for the fingerprint sensor.

You can head to your phone’s Settings>System>About device>Software update and then hit the “Check for updates” option. If the update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the Marshmallow firmware.

Sprint confirms LG G3 Marshmallow update, no release date yet

While Samsung Galaxy S6 users at AT&T are preparing to jump to the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow bandwagon, Sprint has also confirmed that those using 2014’s LG G3 will also be receiving the update.

This follows a request by a concerned customer who wanted to know when this update will be coming out, especially now that it is currently rolling out to T-Mobile and AT&T. Even though the Sprint representative responding to the customer confirmed that LG G3 units will be updated with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there was no mention of any specific date.

So, if you are a Sprint customer, you can be glad that the OS will be coming to your device, but since there is no estimated time of arrival for this update, keep following us and we’ll let you know when this update is finally here.

What was AT&T trying to have me update? I am currently running adroid 5.0.2.
