Android N has not even received an official name yet, but we already have a list of devices that are expected to receive the update once it is released later this year.
The annual Google I/O event was held a week ago and it’s during this event that we expected to hear the new name for the N moniker. Instead, Google went ahead to announce the public beta version of this OS, with nothing coming from the company regarding the expected release date of the OS.
Regardless of the matter, HTC has already gone public with a list of devices that it will be updating with Android N later this year. Of course, the list is comprised of the latest flagships from the company – this year’s HTC 10 and last year’s HTC One M9. Between the releases of these two saw HTC come in with a One A9, a phone it has also added to its list of devices to be updated with Android N later on this year.
When asked for more details regarding the HTC One M8 Android N update, the company was quick to refer users to the line added to the tweet regarding the update. According to the tweet, the company says that additional information about the devices to be updated with the OS will be provided later in the year when Google starts shipping Android N to partner OEMs.
It is unusual for an OEM to come out this early with details of devices that will be updated with a new software. But given the early release of Android N Developer Preview, it was expected that the OS will start shipping to devices earlier than usual too. With this in mind, it is possible that the new Android N will start hitting HTC 10, HTC One M9 and the premium mid-range HTC One A9 in Q4 2016.
HTC is also known to be one of the fastest OEMs to roll out software updates, so why not keep the same tradition with the said phones right after Google has unveiled the OS?
Well, it is only time that can tell. Keep following and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest developments and info regarding HTC Android N update.
Why wait til the weekend to go to Bloomington?
