Android Nougat Update Schedule for Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 7

Android Nougat

All reports seem to be agreeing that Samsung is indeed working on updating the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 with the latest Android Nougat OS.

These are the first devices that everyone expects Samsung to avail the update to but they are not the only ones that will be receiving the new OS. The likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge and the standard Galaxy S6 will also be up in line to receive the update. Google has already availed Android Nougat OTA for the likes of Nexus 6, Nexus 6P as well as Nexus 5X. Those using the Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Android One as well as Google Pixel C can as well get the Nougat update on their devices.

In the new reports, Samsung may be pushing to join up with the above-mentioned devices as far as this Android Nougat update is concerned. But when will this be happening? Probably towards the end of this year.

With the update, Samsung is expected to bring the latest Grace UX to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge – a feature that was first seen with the Galaxy Note 7. Like many other Android OEMs, Samsung has yet to announce the official list of devices that will be benefiting from the new Android Nougat OS. However, having high expectations for the OS to reach this year’s flagships is a no-brainer.

The list of devices will also include the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition and Batman Edition, Galaxy S7 Active as well as Galaxy S6 Active. As for the mid-rangers, the likes of Galaxy A9 and its A9 Pro counterpart, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J5, Galaxy C7, Galaxy C5 as well as Galaxy On7, all from 2015 and 2016, should also be receiving Android Nougat at some point, probably next year.

Android Nougat brings a number of features to the fold. These include things like multi-window view, enhanced Doze mode, direct reply from notifications, Google Assistant, bundled notifications, new emojis as well as an inbuilt data saver, among many others.
