While the iPhone 16 series hit the market a few days ago, the iPhone 17 lineup is slated to be a September 2025 release.
Even as Android smartphones have started offering a 120 Hz refresh rate, the iPhone lineup, to date, has a refresh rate of only 60 Hz for the regular models. This is likely to change in the Apple iPhone 17 series.
While only the Pro variants of the iPhone models so far have featured a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Ross Young claims that the base iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air models will support 120 Hz displays and ProMotion technology.
Other Specifications
It has been rumored for a long time that the iPhone 17 lineup will support the under-display Face ID technology. However, Ross Young additionally states that the series will not offer support for this technology. This means that the selfie camera will be supported by only one punch hole.

The iPhone 17 Air is likely to also be called iPhone 17 Slim and will either refer to or replace the Plus variant in the existing series. As the name indicates, the handset is rumored to have a slimmer body than other handsets in the series.
According to an earlier leak, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will incorporate graphic sheets and feature an enhanced cooling system with vapor chamber technology.
The iPhone 17 and 17 Slim models are anticipated to come with 8 GB RAM. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will house slightly more RAM and are anticipated to be equipped with 12 GB RAM.

All smartphones in the iPhone 17 lineup will come with the manufacturer’s newly launched iOS 18 with AI capabilities. The operating system also incorporates Apple Intelligence that offers several AI features for a few premium iPhone variants.
The iPhone 17 lineup is not the only set of iPhones that will be released in 2025. Apple will also be releasing the iPhone SE4, which supports Apple Intelligence and has an OLED display, a front design like the iPhone 14.
