ASUS joined the many Asian companies that have been releasing quite a number of amazing, spec-packed smartphones at very reasonable prices.
The Taiwan-based tech giant, last month, announced a series of new smartphones dubbed ASUS ZenFone 3, ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe and a phablet named ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra. At the time, ASUS only made us aware of their impending debut, but as it is, the official release date of these three phones has been confirmed by the company.
According to a Taiwanese website known as ePrice, the trio of ASUS ZenFone 3, the premium ZenFone 3 Deluxe and the oversized ZenFone 3 Ultra will be officially released on July 12. As it stands, the three will only be availed for purchase on this day in their home country of Taiwan. There is no confirmed date of when exactly the three will be available outside the Asian country.
All three phones are installed with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow that features the company’s ZenUI Launcher. ASUS this time round ditched Intel processors that were used on last year’s ZenFone 2 series and instead went for Qualcomm-made Snapdragon processors. In addition, you will also come across fingerprint scanners on these three phones, something that lacked on the previous handsets.
Design-wise, you also get some changes. The ZenFone 3 is made of glass and metal that gives it a premium look and feel like what you get with most flagships that boast of the same design material. On the other hand, the high-end Deluxe and the Ultra variant are built with aluminum material, giving them an equally appealing look.
As mentioned earlier, the prices of ASUS-made devices are similar to what you get with a good number of Chinese companies. The standard ZenFone 3 starts at $249 whereas the high-end ZenFone 3 Deluxe is priced at $499. As for the phablet ZenFone 3 Ultra, it will set you back $479.
The high-end ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe is a real powerhouse thanks to a Snapdragon 820 SoC that will be supported by a 6GB RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The camera sensor will pack Sony’s 23MP IMX318 lens that also features electronic image stabilization. The front has an 8MP selfie sensor. This phone has a screen size of 5.7 inches, which is the only one that uses Full HD Super AMOLED technology. As for the battery size, you get a 3000mAh unit.
The standard ASUS ZenFone 3 comes with a screen size of 5.5 inches, which is a Full HD Super IPS LCD panel with the pixel density of 401ppi. Under the hood, it packs a Snapdragon 625 SoC that is supported with a RAM of 4GB. There is 64GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card. There is a rear camera of 16MP and front snapper of 8MP as well as a battery unit of 3000mAh.
The larger ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra comes with a screen size of 6.8 inches. This Full HD IPS LCD panel has a pixel density of 324ppi. Under the hood, you get a Snapdragon 652 SoC that is supported by a RAM of 4GB. This variant offers onboard storage of up to 128GB, which can also be expanded via a microSD card. You get the same camera specs as what is offered on the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, but the battery capacity is larger at 4600mAh.
