There is a new software update rolling out for those using the 2016 ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe flagship with model number ZS550KL.
Like many other software updates that are usually rolled out to smartphones, those using ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be treated to a bunch of new features as well as improvements in terms of performance. The software update will bump the phone’s build number to 12.40.108.17.
Being an over the air update, the entire list of ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe units will not be receiving this software update at once. Instead, it will be available in stages, meaning that some devices will actually receive it ahead of others. This could take a period ranging from few days up to even a week or more, but the OTA notification will eventually be there. If waiting is not in your DNA, there is an option of checking for the update manually by heading to the Settings>About>System Update section to check for the availability of the files.
Don’t get too excited, though, as this update doesn’t bring the latest Android 7.0 Nougat to the flagship ZenFone 3 Deluxe. Even after the update, the phone will still remain with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but for now, it is only rolling out for those using the entry-level model of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. This is because the same update already rolled out to the high-end ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe, which has model number ZS570KL.
So, what do you get in the new update if at all there is still no Android Nougat on board? Apparently, the updated Marshmallow version brings a Pure Mode that comes in when using earphones and is available via the Audio Wizard. The touch performance of the phone is much better following the update while the company has also included a new tutorial with respect to the NFC feature.
As for now, there is still no word on when the two models of ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be receiving the latest Android Nougat treat, but hopefully, the wait won’t go beyond this Q1 2017.
