ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be going up against the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, HTC 10 and Sony Xperia X Performance when it is released later this month.
But does the phone have what it takes to go against these already established names in the smartphone industry?
The new ZenFone 3 came in three variants, with the Deluxe being the flagship option of the three. The phone has massive specs that will indeed make the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and even iPhone 6S and probably the upcoming iPhone 7 sweat for their money.
The ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe phone is made of sheer metal that gives it a solid premium look and feel regardless of the angle you are in. In addition, the antenna lines are buried on the sides and nothing is visible from the back. This is great work from ASUS, especially when looking at the models the company released last year.
The ZenFone 3 Deluxe will feature a huge 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display panel with Always On display feature and Full HD resolution. This means it will feature a slightly lower pixel density of 386ppi. Under the hood, this phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC that is clocked at a speed of 2.15GHz. This is paired with an Adreno 530 graphics unit and a RAM of 4GB.
Apparently, the Taiwanese company will be offering the ZenFone 3 Deluxe in variants of 4GB and 6GB RAM. The base model will also carry 64GB of onboard storage while the high-end model will come with 256GB of storage. The latter is definitely the beast in the group, especially when it gets to ROM.
According to the latest reports, the 6GB RAM/256GB ROM variant of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be powered by a faster Snapdragon 821 SoC, which is clocked at a speed of 2.3GHz and is paired with an enhanced Adreno 530 GPU. Interestingly, both handsets have room for microSD cards, including the 256GB ROM variant.
On the camera side, you get a decent 23MP rear snapper from Sony that features an aperture of f/2.0, a sapphire crystal lens cover, dual-LED flash as well as 4-axis OIS that ensures even greater stability when capturing shots in motion and low-light conditions. The snapper can also record 4K videos.
The front part gets an even better 8MP snapper that comes with an 85-degree wide-angle lens, something not so many current flagships can match. To keep the phone powered is a 3000mAh battery that can be charged super-quickly with the help of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. For better security, ASUS went for a fingerprint scanner and placed it on the rear, meaning you can authorize Android Pay purchases using a fingerprint rather than using passcodes.
As for the software, you will get the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, just like the rest of 2016 Android flagships. However, the phone also features the company’s ZenUI 3.0 on top of the stock OS.
To grab yourself a new ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe, you will need around $500 for the base model. As of now, there are no pricing details for the high-end 6GB/256GB model, but expect it to cost higher than this. When compared to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, HTC 10 and Xperia X Performance, among other Android flagship handsets, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe (base model) is a great deal in terms of pricing since it offers the same specs as the rest of the pack and even more storage. Better still, you get an even larger display screen than most handsets, albeit with Full HD resolution as compared to the QHD used on the other models.
