With the MWC 2017 fast approaching, the BlackBerry DTEK60 and its counterpart DTEK50 have received some amazing discounts from the Canadian company ahead of the expected release of the BlackBerry Mercury.
The BlackBerry Mercury, which could end up on either side of the two as far as naming is concerned (DTEK40 or DTEK70), is expected to be made official at the this month’s MWC show in Barcelona. But before this day comes around, the Canadian company has thrown in some really good discounts for the 2016 handsets.
Normally, the BlackBerry DTEK60 would set you back a tune of $499, but after this discount, the phone will now be available for just $449, leaving you with a cool $50. On the other hand, the low-end BlackBerry DTEK50 usually costs $259, but this time around, you can grab the phone for $40 less, which brings its price to a mere $219.
Given that the BlackBerry DTEK60 and DTEK50 are sold in different markets, this offer applies to other markets and not just the U.S. Apparently, those in Canada will get a $53 discount on the former and $85 off the latter. As for the UK, the DTEK60 will sell with £33 off while the DTEK50 will now sell at £255. Mainland Europe will now pay €513 for the high-end model while the low-end variant will set you back €296, which is a discount of €43.
As noted earlier, the BlackBerry DTEK60 is the high-end variant of the two. It comes with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display screen with QHD resolution. Under the hood, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC alongside a RAM of 4GB. The storage is not bad either at 32GB and can be expanded using a 256GB microSD card. The rear panel has a cool 21MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture while the front shooter has an 8MP lens. To keep the lights on, the DTEK60 has a 3000mAh battery. Android Marshmallow powers it out of the box.
The slightly cheaper BlackBerry DTEK50 also comes with weaker specs when compared to its counterpart, but it is still a solid performer. You get a 5.2-inch Full HD display screen, a Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The rear panel has a 13MP snapper while the front ships with an 8MP lens. The battery is still great at 2610mAh and like the BlackBerry DTEK60, you get Android Marshmallow when you unbox it.
