MWII

As already mentioned in the intro, CoD: MW2 will be released in late October on various gaming platforms, with the PlayStation receiving Beta Early Access first to those who pre-order the game. The 2019 Modern Warfare sequel will explore a familiar trajectory from the old MW 2 game. There have been a few tweaks made to the game, making it seem like an alternate universe of the first three games in the Modern Warfare series.

From the reveal trailer, the campaign, and recognizable MW series characters Captain Price, Soap, Gaz, and Ghost, we could see that the new CoD: Modern Warfare 2 is going to look amazing and unlike any of the previous Modern Warfare games. Activision Blizzard has stated that this game, along with remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, will be part of a new trilogy. This means they will build up the tension and leave some crucial story details unexplained to spark interest for the final chapter.

Many have commented on the trailer, stating it will be the best CoD installment to date, featuring huge skirmishes, car pursuits, and iconic skyscraper gameplay. The story will revolve around Task Force 141 and its mission to bring peace to the world and eliminate the rising threat.

Campaign, factions, and gear

The new Modern Warfare 2 experience will feature missions already seen in the original MW2, but more enhanced and improved as one could expect. Missions Night War, Wet work, Convoy, Dark Water, Tower, and Backstab will make their appearance with the official game release on the 28th of October.

Character-wise, players will have a chance to again meet the members of Task Force 141; Captain Price, Soap, Gaz, and Ghost, as well as members of other factions, such as CIAs Kate Laswell, Shadow Company’s Philip Graves, and Los Vaqueros’ Alejandro Vargas. Players will join forces with the aforementioned characters to put an end to Al-Qatala, a terrorist group from Urzikstan. They will pose as the main antagonists in the series, aided by the Las Almas drug cartel.

Now to the most intriguing part, weapons, and gear, as many will also make their way to players worldwide with the new MW2 remastered. From assault rifles and submachine guns to marksman rifles and handguns. Some of the weapons and gear that MW2 will reintroduce are SCAR-L, MP7, AK-74u, M1014, Riot Shield, Ghillie Suit, and more.

Open Beta Multiplayer

MW2 featured a PlayStation open beta before the official release on the 18th of September and lasted for two full days. Those on PS4 and 5, who preordered the game had a chance to participate in the closed beta, two days before the open beta launched to the PlayStation community. On the 22nd of September, the open beta was made available for all other platforms, specifically players who pre-ordered the game, while other players had a chance to try out the beta from the 24th of September.

Warzone 2.0

Together, Infinity Ward and Raven Software are expanding the Modern Warfare 2 universe with a brand-new Call of Duty: Warzone, which will be made available with CoD: MW 2. All-new content and systems are just some of the exciting new features coming to Warzone 2.0, which will also incorporate the latest Modern Warfare 2 IW9 engine.
