The gaming community hopes to see a trailer being released for this game which was announced way back in 2018!
For a while, one has been hearing about an Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake being in the works. There has been no confirmation from the development team, of course. Now, if one goes by the information available on the developer’s LinkedIn page, a remake of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is indeed in the works. Some of the leaks, one has come across in the recent past, have also strengthened one’s belief about the existence of this remake.
In the past, one had heard different kinds of rumors pertaining to the Oblivion remake. In 2023, one heard a rumor about the game getting a release in 2024 or 2025. In December 2024, Xbox insider Jez Corden made a prediction about the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake reveals taking place during an Xbox Developer Direct in January 2025. While a confirmation about this presentation has not come through, the company organized Developer Directs in January 2023 and January 2024. While leaks and rumors continue to come through, new evidence indicates that Oblivion fans are getting some good news soon.

As per the LinkedIn page of a Technical Art Director at Virtuos, the team is working on an “unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S”. Though they have not made a direct mention of the fourth Elder Scrolls title, most people are of the opinion that that is the game that is being referred to here. Since Unreal Engine 5 is being used here, one believes it will be a remake and not a remaster as reported earlier. Towards the end of 2023, one heard about a Fallout 3 remaster being in the works. However, at the moment, one is not sure whether the project is happening.
Update: A few weeks ago, insiders reported that Virtuos games is developing an Oblivion remake. Someone just discovered that the LinkedIn profile of Virtuos’ technical art director confirms they are developing an unannounced remake in Unreal Engine 5! #elderscrolls #oblivion https://t.co/7hfy0cy8My pic.twitter.com/4K3Ilui6TD

Oblivion was designed as a follow-up to The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind and launched with much fanfare in 2006. Apart from its vast open world, the game received a lot of appreciation for its soundtrack and graphics. 2012 onwards, a bunch of fans joined hands to recreate Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine in the Skyrim mod.

The development team shared a video update which gave one an inkling of this huge mod getting a launch in 2025.
At the moment, there is not much clarity about the direction in which The Elder Scrolls series is headed. While Bethesda Game Studios released a trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018, one has not heard much about the game since then. The gaming studio had stated that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be the game it would work on after getting done with Starfield. While no information or update about the game has been provided as yet, fans are hoping they will at least get to see a trailer before 2025 comes to an end. Bethesda Game Studios offering some kind of update would also work for fans.
