Fallout 4: Creature Designer Offers a Glimpse of Monster Cut

Fallout 4 Creature Designer

The Maypole could not be introduced in the game because of its huge size and foreseeable effect on the balance of the game.

A Creature Designer, who was once associated with Fallout 4, has shared important details about “The Maypole”, which happens to be a cut ghoul type from the game. Though it was not incorporated in the game’s final version, the ghoul might have emerged as a huge game-changer.

Fallout 4 was launched in November 2015. This year, the game will complete a decade of its release. When a game has been around for so long, fans want to get some details on the things that went into the development of the game. They also wish to know about the ideas the development team worked on but did not use in the final version.

After the launch of Fallout 4, a bunch of developers have discussed the cut content in the game. Some of these ideas, which one has come across in the past, seemed quite promising. Developers, of course, tend to have solid reasons behind not incorporating certain ideas in the game.

A Redditor, who identifies themselves as PuzzleheadedWish4619, shared an image of the cut Fallout creature. This particular image caught the eye of Jonah Lobe, who had worked as a Creature Designer with Bethesda in the past. By posting a comment, the Creature Designer spoke about the history behind “The Maypole”.

Lobe stated that the concept for the creature was created by him when he was in his last days at Bethesda. As per the Creature Designer, the attempt was to create something that fans had never seen existing as a part of the Fallout universe.

Lobe further stated that he wanted to create a monster that would contribute towards altering the game’s landscape. The idea, as per Lobe, was to put together a monster that would “wander the map, bringing with it horrible radiation storms and scores of Feral Ghouls.

Entire towns would have to shutter their doors whenever it passed near”.

Most developers refrain from introducing a big monster in a game a few months after it has been launched. The enormous size of The Maypole would have skewed the dynamics of the game. That explains why it was never introduced in the game. However, one cannot deny the fact that the addition of this monster would have brought a lot of excitement to the game.
