After turning its back on the previous plastic design as well as dropping the support for microSD cards and removable batteries in last year’s versions, these moves were considered as huge gambles for Samsung.
As it turned out, things did not end up so well. This year saw Samsung bring back two things it had dropped in the past – support for microSD card as well as water and dust resistance with an IP68 rating. This has been another successful gamble for the South Korean company as the sales of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have propelled it to great returns in the just-ended first quarter of 2016. With this, it also shows that Samsung won the gamble by releasing the two phones earlier than last year’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
One question that now begs answers is will Samsung Galaxy Note 6 be released at the right time like the S7 and S7 Edge? Well, this is a bit tricky for Samsung, especially given that the success the company has had in Q1 2016 was not just as a result of the sales of the two phones, but also from things like OLED panels, chipsets and so on. Still, the company’s mobile division looks promising thanks to this early release of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
Samsung Galaxy Note 6 rumors are all over the web, with claims that the South Korean tech giant might again make another gamble with the phablet and announce it earlier than usual. Some point to a mid-July announcement and early August official release, which would be a full month earlier than last year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 5. This could be a good move by Samsung, especially now that it has a success “tag” on its back with respect to Q1 2016. Furthermore, Samsung’s biggest rival in the flagship world – Apple – will probably be releasing the successor to last year’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus this coming September, which should give Samsung an early start supposing the latest rumors materialize.
There is no doubt that this is a huge gamble for Samsung as it looks to build on its amazing start to the year 2016. Whether people will buy the idea of having to refresh their phones in favor of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is something that can only be known with time. If Samsung fails this coming Q2 2016, no one will remember the tremendous success the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge brought in during Q1 2016.
Having said this, we believe that Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be here early enough, just like the S7 and S7 Edge, as the company looks to capitalize on early adopters, but this will only help with lifting the figures of Q3 2016.
