The South Korean tech giant has rolled out its December 2024 security update for quite a few smartphones and tablets across the globe over the past few weeks.
The Galaxy S21 lineup, Galaxy S23 Lineup, and the Galaxy A54 are the latest handsets from the manufacturer to avail this update.
The update can be downloaded and installed automatically through the System update section in the Settings app or manually using a Windows PC, a USB-C cable, and the Odin tool if you are well-versed with the flashing process.
Galaxy S21 Lineup
All three smartphones in the Galaxy S21 series comprising the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra have started receiving the update. At present, only carrier-locked handsets in the United States are eligible for the update. It is hoped that the S21 FE will also receive the update soon.
The firmware update is associated with the build number G99xUSQSEGXK3 and offers only security improvements like addressing critical- and high-risk vulnerabilities in the operating system and vulnerabilities in a few Exynos chips including the Exynos 2100 powering the smartphones.
Galaxy S23 Lineup
The manufacturer has started rolling out the security update three handsets Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra plus Galaxy S23 FE. For now, the update is limited to handsets in Europe although the update is likely to be available in other regions worldwide soon.

The firmware update features the build number S91xBXXS7CXK6 for the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra while that of the Galaxy S23 FE has the build number S711BXXS6DXK8. Apart from the security features, the non-FE models will get an enhanced Auto Blocker feature.
Galaxy A54
Samsung is now offering a security update for its mid-range Galaxy A54. At the moment, only selected carrier-locked smartphones in the United States are receiving the update but there is a possibility of the update getting extended to other markets soon.
The update offers security enhancements and fixes vulnerabilities in One UI, Android, and some Exynos chips such as the Exynos 1380 in the handset.
