Google has managed to hit the right notes when it comes to the Pixel smartphones.
The new phones, which would be high end devices unlike the Nexus devices, have received a lot of positive reviews just a few days after their launch. A major reason behind this popularity has been the latest Android Nougat on these products. Itmay take a while before these features start to appear on other devices running on Android.
At the moment, the Google Pixel and the Pixel XL are the phones to offer the best Android experience. However, this alone is not the selling point of the devices. The duo shares a number of top features starting with the 5 inch display on the regular model and going as far as the 5.5-inch screen on the Pixel XL. Unlike some of the Android offerings from other manufacturers, the two phones are separated only on the basis of their screen size.
The display on the Pixel and Pixel XL are of the highest quality. The QHD resolution makes it on par with the rest of the offerings in the segment. The two devices are available with either 32 GB or 128 GB with no middle of the range 64 GB offering. It ranks as one of the disappointments considering that it would have made the phone more affordable for those who are unable to afford the 128 GB yet want something more than just 32 GB.
In the past, one of the main reasons for Google smartphones being unable to compete with the mainstream manufacturers like Samsung, who ironically rely upon Google for the operating system, is the lack of high end features. This aspect has been taken care of by the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. A strong element of the device would be its 12.3-megapixel rear camera. At a time when phones are downsizing on the megapixel count in favor of less noise and better night photography, opting for a f/2.0 aperture is certainly not the right way, but the camera is not bad by any means.
The much larger Pixel XL has to take care of significant power requirements and it does so by offering a hefty 3450 mAh battery whereas the smaller 2770 mAh battery is found on the Pixel device. Both these batteries can be quickly recharged using the inbuilt fast charging technology.
The two devices are now available for purchase in the United States.
