HTC Taiwan has taken to its official Facebook page to announce an event that is set to be held on March 20, which is next week Monday.
According to the company, there’s an “unexpected surprise” coming your way – a surprise that we for sure don’t have the slightest hint about. The image in the post has the “Spring is coming” tag and nothing more, which makes it even harder to tell what the company is working on.
We know that HTC had confirmed that it will be reducing the number of phones it releases this year, with only 6-7 phones in mind. So far, the HTC U Ultra and U Play have already been confirmed and even though the company is expected to unveil the successor to the HTC 10, this phone is not expected until after the release of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+.
Despite this, those following the post are full of suggestions, with some still adamant that HTC could unveil a new Snapdragon 835-powered flagship but with a release date of April or after, just like Sony did with the Xperia XZ Premium, which was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona late last month.
Another camp is adamant that HTC has plans to unveil a premium U Ultra with up to 128GB of internal storage. The current model that started shipping in the U.S. not so long ago has 64GB of storage and is priced at $749. This makes some sense based on the idea that the company is still left with about 4-5 devices to release this year, but like the idea of the HTC 10 successor, this is based on fans’ guesses.
The event is not so far away and we should know what the company has in store for us in a few days’ time. Stay tuned!
