Huawei Honor 6X Android Nougat Treat to Arrive in Q2 2017

Honor 6X

Despite launching the Huawei Honor 6X, the Chinese OEM is one of the few Android OEMs that can boast of a device that is powered by the new Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The Huawei Mate 9 was launched back in 2016 and in fact, the phone was only the third major handset to come preinstalled with Android Nougat if the Google Pixel handsets are not counted. The first to roll out with Nougat out of the box was the LG V20 followed by the HTC Bolt (HTC 10 Evo). It is the Huawei Mate 9 that comes in as the third phone to come preinstalled with the new Android OS.

The Huawei Honor 6X was launched back in October, but this was only meant for the people of China. Back then, the device came preinstalled with Android Marshmallow, the same OS that the phone will be coming with to the U.S. and Europe. In case you didn’t know, the Honor 6X was launched yesterday and it should start shipping in less than a weeks’ time.

Apparently, Android Authority notes that the Huawei Honor 6X will be updated to the latest Android Nougat in Q2 2017, according to the Chinese OEM. The confirmation came via the company’s presentation at the CES 2017 event that is ongoing as at the time of this writing. Even though there is no specific date mentioned, it is great to hear that Huawei has such plans for the Honor 6X coming up this soon.

Given the update to Android Nougat, the Huawei Honor 6X will also get a new EMUI 5.0 skin that is based on the Nougat OS. There will also be some new features coming in, but nothing different from what you already know with respect to Android Nougat.

As noted earlier, the Huawei Honor 6X has already been launched in the U.S. and Europe priced at 249 USD/EURO
