It’s just a few months and the Huawei Honor 8 will be a year old. The phone was announced in July 2016 and with this in mind, talk of the Huawei Honor 9 has started emerging.
There’s no arguing against the fact that the Huawei Honor 8 is one of the best phones that money can buy out there. It packs high-end specs and features, a classy design and as expected, it comes with a very affordable price tag for a phone of its caliber.
Now, in a new set of leaked images, it appears that not only was the Huawei fan base impressed by the design language of the Honor 8, but also the company itself. Apparently, the Chinese tech giant is working on a new Huawei Honor 9 and if the leaked images are anything to go by, the handset will keep a lot of what you already see on the Honor 8, at least externally.
As noted earlier, the Honor 8 featured a premium design, dual-lens cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. While the high-end design and dual-lens camera are set to keep their places on the Honor 9, it appears that the 2017 model will change the location of the fingerprint scanner, this time putting it on the front panel, similar to the Huawei P10. The 2016 Huawei P9 had a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, but things changed when this year’s model came in. If anything, this is set to be the major change on the external appearance of the Honor 9 compared to the Honor 8.
The leaked images come in black and you can’t miss the neatly curved edges and premium finish, however, what remains a mystery is whether the Huawei Honor 9 will keep the “Smart Key” feature. The back confirms the dual-lens cameras and a dual-tone LED flash, but for now, we don’t have details on the internals. Nonetheless, you can expect some substantial upgrades over the Honor 8 when it comes to performance.
