Huawei NOVA Plus Now Selling in Canada for 400 CAD

Huawei NOVA Plus

A few weeks ago, we reported that Huawei had plans to bring the NOVA Plus to North America’s Canada starting October 18.

Well, we are past this date and for sure, the Chinese OEM has delivered on its promise. According to reports coming from the North, it appears that the Huawei NOVA Plus is up for grabs for an affordable price of just $300 or 400 CAD. It gets even better as the phones will be sold through the likes of Virgin Mobile, Rogers as well as Fido.

If you feel getting a Huawei NOVA Plus right now, it is only available through Rogers. As for those looking for it on Fido and Virgin Mobile, the release dates are set for November 1st and November 3rd, respectively. The good side of the story is that the phone can also be bought on a two-year contract that doesn’t require an upfront fee.

Even though the NOVA Plus comes to join a smartphone category that is basically full of options, the phone has a number of eye-catching features that should make you consider it as a solid option. Unveiled at the IFA 2016 in Berlin, Germany, the Huawei NOVA Plus ships with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but as usual, there is the company’s skin on top of the stock OS. Still, an update to Android 7.0 Nougat is expected at some point in future.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Huawei NOVA Plus packs a 5.5-inch Full HD screen with a 1080p resolution. The back has a 16MP sensor and support for optical image stabilization – a feature that is rare to find on phones treading the same mid-range grounds as the NOVA Plus. This camera can also record 4K videos and there is a LED flash to help you capture great photos even when in the dark. The front has an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calls.

In terms of performance specs, Huawei went for pretty powerful specs for a midrange phone. There is a Snapdragon 625 SoC, an octa-core chipset that has been paired with a 3GB RAM alongside 32GB of internal storage. If this is not enough, you have the room to insert a 128GB microSD card into the phone.

Given its massive performance capabilities, Huawei was aware that many will want to put this phone up to heavy tasks, including gaming and streaming videos. As a result, the company is shipping the NOVA Plus with a gigantic 3340mAh battery unit, which also supports fast charging technology.
