Huawei P9 was among the first smartphones to drive into the now dual-lens camera craze when it was released earlier this year.
Ever since this happened, the Chinese OEM has been working on this technology for most of its handsets. It has appeared on the Huawei Honor 8 and Huawei Mate 9 series, however, it is only the Honor 8 that lacks a Leica Optics branding.
The partnership between Huawei and Leica seems to be growing further as the companies have plans to open an R&D plant in Germany. As a result, there is nothing surprising when a new leaked image of a supposed Huawei P10 shows up with a dual-lens camera setup featuring Leica’s branding, just like the P9 and Mate 9.
Huawei P10 is a phone expected to be announced this coming year and just like any other major flagship, leaks, rumors and speculations are beginning to build up ahead of a possible release in Spring 2016. The leaked image has a very familiar look unless you haven’t come across the Huawei Honor 8. There seems to be a glass back and the cameras are arranged side-by-side, horizontally, unlike the Huawei Mate 9 which has them installed vertically. The flash appears to the right of the lenses while the fingerprint sensor has been placed right below it.
There is little the leaked image give out about the internal specs, but the Huawei P10 has a list of speculations already doing rounds. Apparently, the P10 will come with the same Kirin 960 processor used on the Mate 9 alongside a massive RAM of 6GB to match the phablet. There is talk of 256GB of storage alongside a microSD card slot that can accommodate the same amount. Huawei may stick with the same screen size as for the P9 (5.2 inches) and add another P10 Plus at 5.5 inches. In fact, these high-end specs, which include a 5.5-inch QHD display, may be targeting the Plus variant of the Huawei P10.
Given that Huawei Mate 9 launched with Android 7.0 Nougat and Google will soon be releasing the newer version of Android 7.1 Nougat, it is possible that Huawei P10 could launch with the latter out of the box.
