Huawei P9 is the probable successor to the Huawei P8. The Huawei P8’s affordability and high quality made it a huge success. Expectations are high that the upcoming Huawei P9 will also tread the P8’s success.
Huawei’s range of products is somewhat enigmatic. Differentiating their P series’ products can be quite difficult as they almost resemble in appearance. With the Mate series, P series, Mate S series and the Honor brand, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd offers high-end smartphones at relatively pocket-friendly prices.
Price and release date
Following P8’s release date – April 2015 – rumor has it that the Huawei P9 is likely to debut this year around the same time. No official communication has been made from the Chinese manufacturer regarding the Huawei P9 but previous trends might offer clues. From other quarters, rumors have it that Huawei might use the 2016 MWC as a forum to announce the Huawei P9.
When it hit the market, Huawei P8 cost around $530. For Huawei P9, it is anticipated that the new flagship will cost between $500 and $600.
Specifications
Huawei’s own developed Kirin chipset is likely to feature in the P9. Suggestions have it that the new Kirin 950 chipset to be featured in the P9 is faster than Samsung’s Exynos 7420 processor. This indicates that Huawei P9 might be among Android-based fastest phones.
With Huawei’s observed lack of attention to the QHD technology, P9 is likely to have a Full HD screen. This is based on the company’s other flagships which also feature this type of screen resolution. Other unspecified reports claim that the Huawei P9 will arrive in three variants; P9 Max, P9 Lite and P9. The reports suggest that the three variants will spot 6.8, 5.2 and 5-inch screens respectively just as in P8.
Another interesting rumor regarding the P9 is the 6GB RAM the phone might be packing. Together with the Kirin 950 chipset, Huawei P9 might shake up the mobile industry in 2016.
Speculations have it that the P9 will have a dual snapper system. The camera of the P9 is said to be having a dual-sensor and a dual-lens system. Virtual aperture adjustment, filter app, post-capture refocus amongst others are said to be blended in the cam of Huawei P9.
A fingerprint reader is also expected to feature on the P9. Regarding the battery of Huawei P9, word has it that it will be much bigger than P8’s 2,600mAh battery unit.
Design
Suggestions have it that the P9 will have rounded corners and with a physical home button. The phone might also arrive in four color variants; white, gold, pink and silver.
With Huawei’s confirmation to be at MWC 2016, it will be prudent to wait for the official communication from the company in just a few days.
