Huawei is working on launching the Huawei Pura 80 series as the successor to its Pura 70 lineup.
Interestingly, the Pura 70 series was a rebranding of the manufacturer’s P series. Even as the manufacturer is progressing on the release of its Mate 70 series this month, details have emerged about the telephoto periscope camera and launch timeframe of the Pura 80 series.
Advanced Periscope Telephoto Camera
Going by the leak by Digital Chat Station, the key highlight of the Pura 80 series will be its advanced periscope telephoto camera that will undergo a major upgrade over its predecessors. The upgrade will deliver unrivaled zoom capabilities with a larger optical zoom which helps to shoot far-away objects in detail.
The series will have excellent light-gathering macro telephoto and high-speed shooting capabilities like the Huawei Pura 70 series along with extra features for an improved camera experience. The Pura 80 lineup is anticipated to incorporate the high-class OmniVision OV50X sensor.
This sensor incorporates LOFIC technology and is known for a huge photosensitive area that helps in catching enhanced light details in scenes with high brightness. In other words, the lineup will deliver photos that match real-life visuals closely with accurate color representation and lighting.

Like the earlier lineup, the Huawei Pura 80 series is likely to have four variants comprising the Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+ as well as Pura 80 Ultra. It is not known whether all the smartphones will be launched at the same time. However, it is expected that the manufacturer will announce the series next year in the second quarter.
It must be kept in mind that Huawei has not made any official statements about the lineup and details are likely to change over time. Hence, it is advisable to consider the above information with caution.
