Huawei’s sleek and very affordable Honor 5X will soon be receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, the Chinese company has confirmed.
Huawei is the third seller of smartphones across the globe, only behind Samsung and Apple. The company caused waves in the handset industry when the Nexus 6P debuted with an excellent design and top performance, much to the amazement of many. The Huawei Honor 5X followed up later on this year January, coming in with what was earlier described as a sleek design.
The budget-friendly phone is designed using premium metal materials and it also adds a fingerprint sensor, a feature that is usually reserved for the flagship devices. The phone’s under-the-hood features are also decent enough to ensure quality performance even for memory intensive tasks.
Huawei Honor 5X specs
With a price tag of just $199 for an unlocked version, you will be getting one of the best devices in the sub-$200 category. Featuring a 5.5-inch Full HD display, the Honor 5X joins the phablet world with its huge screen. It gets even better as Huawei went for a top-performing Snapdragon 615 processor that features 8 cores and is supported by a decent RAM of 2GB. As far as graphics are concerned, the chipset comes with an Adreno 405 GPU, which is still very capable. Even though the 16GB of onboard storage seems a little out of place, you will be glad to know that there is room to expand the storage with a microSD card.
Other specs of the Huawei Honor 5X that make it a dream-come-true to have at its $200 price tag are a 13MP snapper on the rear, a 5MP selfie cam, a fingerprint scanner and of course, a decent battery unit of 3000mAh. Despite being released at a time when Android 6.0 Marshmallow was ready, Huawei chose to offer the Honor 5X powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop. If this was a drawback for you, the good news is that the phone will now be receiving the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
In a Twitter post, the company said that it will soon be pushing the Android M update to the Honor 5X. However, there is no specific date as to when this software upgrade will happen on the 5X. The good thing is that owners of this device can rest assured that the Marshmallow update will be coming their way sooner than later.
