iPad Mini 8 Display and Processor Details Tipped through Internal Code

Apple is reported to be working on the iPad Mini 8, along with its flagship iPhones.

An internal code leak that refers to the tablet using the codenames J510 and J511 hints at a potential enhancement in the process and display over the present iPad Mini, which was launched way back in October 2024. True to its name, the iPad Mini tablets are the smallest slate offerings from the brand.

OLED Display and A19 Pro Processor

The code details suggest that the iPad Mini 8 will have an OLED display in place of the LCD tablet that is being used at present. If this is true, the display will offer several advantages, such as deeper blacks and enhanced contrasts. The OLED panel will also feature improved energy efficiency.

The small slate is also touted to house an A19 Pro processor from the brand. This chipset will be used for the manufacturer’s upcoming flagship iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. It will have more GPU cores than are present in the standard A19 processor. Interestingly, there is another variant of the A19 Pro with one less GPU core that is currently reserved for the iPhone 17 Air. The processor upgrade is slated to deliver an enhancement in processing and graphics capabilities. As a result, the compact tablet is bound to be better capable of meeting the needs of future iPadOS features and demanding apps.

The same leak refers to another affordable entry-level tablet with the codenames J581 and J582. This slate is anticipated to house an A18 processor and ship in Spring this year.

As Apple has kept the details under wraps, it is best to consider the above information with a pinch of salt. Moreover, things could change over time as the iPad Mini 8 launch is likely to take place only in 2026 or 2027.
