Latest OnePlus 3 and 3T Android Oreo beta update installs October Android security patch, bug fixes and more

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are only a few of the handsets that are currently installed with Android Oreo, but the software is still in beta.

Today, the company has released a new Oreo beta build for the duo and with it comes a number of new additions alongside the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements. After installing this update on your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T, you’ll get a new Android security patch for the month of October. Although not the newest, this update brings it closer to the latest version, which started rolling out over a week ago.

Unless you have the previous beta builds – OxygenOS Open beta 26 for OnePlus 3 and OxygenOS Open beta 17 for the 3T – you won’t be able to install the latest versions 27 and 18 for the OG 3 and 3T, respectively. With this update, OnePlus 3 and 3T users will be on their third Android Oreo open beta updates.

In addition to installing bug fixes and performance enhancements, the updates also come with a new user interface for the Do Not Disturb, making it easy to use the feature. Smart Text Selection has also received some improvements alongside Bluetooth performance as well as an update for the Gallery app. OnePlus has also thrown some improvements to the standby battery usage and fixed bugs that were affecting the smooth performance of the File Manager, Recorder and Weather apps.

If your OnePlus 3 or 3T has been experiencing issues with camera gestures and extended screenshots, well, you shouldn’t miss the latest Android Oreo open beta. Unfortunately, the recently-discovered EngineerMode issue has yet to be fixed, but it should be fixed sooner than later.

Unless you are new to beta builds, you should know that the latest versions will come with some bugs here and there. To make life easier for OnePlus 3 and 3T users, the company has even pointed out some of these bugs, among them UI bugs that show up as black spaces in the UI, but a fix should come out soon.

We don’t know when OnePlus plans to roll out the stable version of Android Oreo to OnePlus 3 and 3T, but we expect it to happen soon.
