The talk of the town is about the Google Nexus 2016 phones dubbed Marlin and Sailfish. There have been new speculations that Google will shift from the traditional Nexus naming to Pixel brand name, but nothing has bene confirmed just yet.
While this is happening, there is also news of a Huawei-made Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet being lined up for a release very soon, before the end of this year. Don’t be surprised if Google unveiled this tablet alongside the Google Nexus 2016 phones that are being lined up for an October 4 event.
A few days ago, prolific leaker Evan Blass came out with information pointing towards a 4GB RAM for the Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet, a device that is being engineered by the company that took care of the highly successful Nexus 6P. Back then, Blass did not give out any further information about this Nexus 7 tablet, but the Huaweiblog.de has some more details as far as this 7-inch slate is concerned.
According to the latest information coming from China, the upcoming Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet will come with a 7-inch display screen that boasts a QHD resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the Chinese maker will pack impressive hardware specs that include the latest Snapdragon 820 SoC as well as flagship RAM of 4GB. In terms of storage, the report claims that the Nexus 7 2016 tablet will pack a massive 64GB while the rear snapper will stop at 13MP.
As at the time of this writing, there is no specific name that has been set aside for the Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet. However, with the recent acquisition of a Huawei 7P trademark by the Chinese tech giant, it is possible that we already have a name. Still, the rumor that Google wants to drop the Nexus brand in favor of Pixel could also affect this tablet.
Given the amazing specs sheet of the Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet, it will for sure be interesting to see the price tag of the slate. Google has been very aggressive with the pricing of the Nexus 7, something that has made the lineup such a success. But with these specs, the price might be closer to the likes of Google Pixel C tablet.
Apparently, it is vaguely thought that the Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet will be released towards the end of this year, however, the company could pull a surprise and launch it together with the Nexus 2016 phones.
Are you happy about the prospects of having a Google Nexus 7 tablet with high-end specs? Let us know in the comments.
Shame. I would have got one if it wasn’t Huawei. Not happy having a device the Chinese government or military have a back door into.
Paranoia much? It’s stock Android not their custom UI. If so paranoid root the damn thing and be done with it.
Very excited and definitely will be in line on release day.
I want a good 10 inch nexus tablet
