If you thought the Moto G4 Plus has all it takes to be the leader in the mid-range market, you haven’t met the LeEco Le S3 just yet.
The Chinese company, LeEco, has recently launched in the U.S. and along with it, the LeEco Le S3 mid-range smartphone will be unveiled as well. The phone comes as an affordable alternative to the flagship Le Pro 3, which also comes with a not-so-bad price tag, especially when LeRewards program is considered.
The LeEco Le S3 will be official for purchase in the U.S. starting November 2 and it will have a price tag of just $249. So, what does this price tag give you in terms specs and design, among other aspects?
Gone are the days when aluminum unibody designs were only meant for the flagship handsets. The LeEco Le S3 defies this aspect by coming with a similar design to the HTC 10, but there are also more similarities with the flagship Le Pro 3. You get a 5.5-inch Full HD screen that means there is a roomy display. Despite the size, the Le S3 is still compact enough to be held in one hand thanks to its thin side bezels. Along with the metallic design, the slim bezels end up giving the LeEco Le S3 a premium look. There are three color variants in gold, rose gold and gray.
As far as the specs are concerned, the LeEco Le S3 has a Snapdragon 652 SoC, which is one of the most powerful mid-range chipsets you can find today. Despite the mid-range processor, LeEco did not hesitate to pack a flagship RAM to the phone, which has 3GB on board. There is also 32GB of storage, which is half of what is provided on the flagship Le Pro 3.
In terms of battery, LeEco Le S3 has a capable 3000mAh battery that should be enough to last a day or even more depending on the usage. The handset also boasts a great 16MP snapper at the back. On the other end, there is an 8MP selfie sensor, which matches what you find on many 2016 flagships.
You might be a little disappointed that the LeEco Le S3 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, especially since there is Android 7.0 Nougat already out there. Still, this shouldn’t be a big deal, especially since the phone will likely get a Nougat upgrade at some point in the future.
As noted earlier, the LeEco Le S3 is priced at just $249, which is one of the best prices, if not the best, you can find for such a premium-looking and spec-packed mid-range handset. It gets even better when you sign up for the LeRewards program where the company is offering an instant rebate of $100, meaning you get the Le S3 for just $149.
