LeEco May Unveil a Snapdragon 823-Powered Phone ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 6

Galaxy Note 6 rumor

A recent benchmarking test by AnTuTu ranked one of LeEco’s latest smartphones in the top three as far as speed is concerned – the LeEco Le Max 2.

However, it seems the Chinese OEM still wants more of this space as latest rumors claim that a new premium phone is in the making.

The Le Max 2 is one of the best phones you can have around, especially when looking at the available specs. The phone packs the latest Snapdragon 820 SoC and has a RAM of 6GB. This is huge for a phone, but it is the major reason why AnTuTu ranks it among the fastest performing smartphones in 2016 so far.

Despite having this title, LeEco wants to improve everything and even get the better of Samsung Galaxy Note 6 by coming in with a device that is powered by a newer Snapdragon 823 SoC. While Samsung is expected to release the Note 6 in August, there have been mixed reports regarding the chipset that will power this phone – whether a Snapdragon 820 or 823 SoC. However, Gizmo China reports that LeEco is planning on unveiling a new smartphone that is based on this new chipset at the upcoming MWC Shanghai to be held from June 29 all through to July 1.

It won’t be the first time LeEco has come in with the first handset powered by the latest chipset. It happened with the release of Le Max Pro that is powered by the current Snapdragon 820 back in February this year, with the likes of Galaxy S7, LG G5 and HTC 10 coming in way later.

If the reports coming from China are to be believed, LeEco’s new phone, whose name has yet to be determined, will still rock the Adreno 530 GPU, but come with a massive RAM of 8GB – something that has never happened before in the smartphone world, although it is also rumored that Microsoft is working on releasing a new Surface Phone with the same 8GB RAM. The phone will reportedly carry a 24MP snapper on the rear, but none of these has yet to be confirmed by the company.

As for Samsung Galaxy Note 6, rumor has it that the phone will pack a RAM of 6GB and keep the same camera specs used on the Galaxy S7, that is, a 12MP main camera and 5MP selfie camera.
