LG V10 Marshmallow update has been coming for months now, but it seems it is finally here, latest reports can reveal. The phablet, released late last year, will only get the update if you are using Verizon wireless carrier.
Following the LG V10 Marshmallow update, the device’s firmware comes to version VS99022A. Owners of this device can now take full advantage of the many goodies that come along with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, among them being a revamped app permissions system, Doze mode for better battery management as well as Google Now on Tap.
The LG V10 started receiving the Marshmallow update a while ago in its home country. However, due to the testing and variations that carriers need to make on the software, it always takes some time before it finally hits devices. As a result, current reports claim that Verizon users should expect more than just changes from Google, but also carrier-specific changes, among them, preinstalled apps specific to this OS.
If you currently own an LG V10 and use it on Verizon network, this is the time to check out for the carrier’s notification. Once it is there, make sure your phone is fully charged or at least 50%. This is so as to avoid unnecessary interruptions when switching to the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
In addition, you also need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network as opposed to using mobile data when downloading the Marshmallow update on your LG V10. This is because a Wi-Fi connection can guarantee stable internet connectivity as opposed to what mobile data can offer.
As mentioned earlier, the LG V10 was released late last year and it features a 5.7-inch screen that features 2K resolution. Under the hood, the phone packs a Snapdragon 808 chipset from Qualcomm and is supported by a massive RAM of 4GB. As far as storage is concerned, there is an option to get a 64GB LG V10. The rear of the phablet has a 16MP snapper while the front comes with a dual-camera system with 5MP.
LG G4 Marshmallow updates on AT&T rolling out
Other emerging reports say that the AT&T users of the LG G4 should also be receiving the Marshmallow update at the moment. On the other hand, carriers such as T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular have not mentioned when the LG G4 Marshmallow update will show up, however, it should be very soon. There are even some reports suggesting that Verizon is already rolling out the update to last year’s LG smartphone flagship.
There is even better news for LG G3 users on Verizon as the same reports also claim that the device is currently receiving this update. There is no word when T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, AT&T and Sprint will be releasing the LG G3 Marshmallow update. To give you some real hope, Canada’s Telus has scheduled this update for March 29.
I received the update, via Verizon at midnight. Since then, my fingerprint scanner had refused to work. I’ve tried to restart the device multiple times and have even removed the battery for a hard restart. The scanner still fails. Actually, the phone now acts like it doesn’t exist at all. When I try to add a fingerprint to see if maybe it just wasn’t reading mine, it simply acted as if I’d never touched it.
