Xiaomi Mi 5S is one of the least known devices around the world, yet the phone has an incredible set of features, specs as well as a premium design, even much better than what the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7, LG V20 or HTC 10 have to offer.
The Mi 5S is an upgraded version of the Mi 5 and with it, you get an innovative handset that comes with a roomy 5.15-inch LCD screen that features a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The phone comes in two variants, with the high-end model coming in with a pressure-sensitive display panel like what you see on the likes of iPhone 6S and iPhone 7.
There is a standard USB-C port on board alongside a 3.5mm headphone jack to help with wired audio connectivity. The Xiaomi Mi 5S is the first phone to come with a non-porous ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that lives under the 2.5D front glass panel and since it features a full metal unibody design, there is no room for a removable battery.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi 5S has the latest Snapdragon 821 SoC on board. This processor has two RAM options – either a 3GB or 4GB RAM variant. Both have an Adreno 530 GPU on board and are clocked at a speed of 2.15GHz. The Mi 5S comes with support for UFS 2.0 storage with internal options of either 64GB for the base model and 128GB for the high-end variant. Where the base model has a 3100mAh battery, the high-end model comes with a 3200mAh battery. Both units support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
On camera matters, the Xiaomi Mi 5S has a decent 12MP snapper on the back with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and support for 4K video capture. The front side has a 4MP snapper that should deliver even better selfies. Like many other 2016 flagships, you get Android Marshmallow out of the box, but an update to Android Nougat is just around the corner.
If you’ve loved this phone, there is a limited deal at Geekbuying where the Xiaomi Mi 5S has a price tag of just $269.99 for the base model of 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. As noted, the deal is limited, so hurry while it still lasts.
