The LG Stylo 2 was announced in March 2016 at the Mobile World Congress as part of the manufacturer’s upcoming releases of mobile devices for the year.
The handset will be made available as a mid-range phablet in stores from the middle of May. Also known as LG Stylus 2 worldwide, the gadget does not have flagship configuration if that is what you are looking for. But, it does embrace some pretty decent specifications for phablets in this category. In other words, even without any specific groundbreaking spec to its credit, there are a few aspects that could end up making this handset your idea of the right phablet.
Dimensions, Weight and Body Material
Termed as a phablet, it can only be guessed that the LG gadget will be bigger than the standard smartphone. However, the good news is that it will still house a fairly compact size of 155 x 79.6 x 7.4mm and weigh 145g. This means that the handset is very likely to be lightweight and also easy to hold in your hand or keep in pocket. The Stylo 2 will sport a removable plastic back panel and a metallic frame around its body. Although the plastic rear could be a let-down in terms of appearance, the metallic band does its fair bit in rendering a bit of justice in this regard. The silver color also does a good deal in adding a style statement.
Screen Display, Pixel Resolution and Density
The screen details are nothing really great to look forward to. However, they are reasonable enough for phablets in this price range. The LG phablet is going to be launched with a diagonal 5.7-inch size screen that uses IPS LCD display. Disappointingly, the pixel resolution for this big screen is going to be only 1280 x 720 with an equally low pixel density of only 258ppi. Even as the device suffers from these pitfalls, it offers a very appealing split screen or dual window mode that helps you to achieve more productivity by working on two tasks at a time. As a result, you can also avail the one-side or split keyboard options. In other words, when you divide your screen into two, you can use your keyboard on just one of the two screens alone.
The big screen will indeed be a great boon to those would like to use their phablet for non-mobile related activities like watching movies, playing games, or reading books. The screen size avoids strain on the eyes and the IPS LCD display is sure to assure you of wide viewing angles.
Cameras
As a 13MP primary snapper, the rear camera will be able to produce some good results and can record 1080p HD videos. The front secondary 5MP shooter also appears to be fairly promising when it comes to taking selfies or getting yourself involved in a video chat. Specific features supported by both the cameras have not been revealed by the manufacturer. Yet, the cameras are not expected to be a showdown and photography and/or video buffs will definitely be able to enjoy capturing some memorable interesting shots.
Hardware, Software and Memory Configuration
This is one area where LG has really done some justice to its phablet with some really neat under the hood settings. The LG Stylo 2 will come equipped with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC chipset that is reported to clock at 1.2GHz frequency. This is expected to be coupled with an Adreno 306 graphics processor. Added to these parameters, the handset is to offer 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage. All these factors assure you of practically smooth and seamless performance. Apart from the offered 16GB, you will be able to use a memory card and expand this to 200GB to give you practically unlimited storage.
As the name indicates, the bonus factor is the stylus that can be compactly fit into the device when not in use. It will prove to be a great benefit for those who resist the idea of using the virtual standard QWERTY keyboards to carry out tasks like taking notes, preparing a to-do list, or just some funny doodle.
The other key highlight is that LG has taken the effort to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed. This means that you will be able to use Android’s latest offering right away without having to wait for an update being made available. Additionally, the manufacturer’s own LG UI will also be integrated.
Battery
The phablet is rumored to come with a really powerful 3,000 mAh battery, to help you with at least a day of uninterrupted usage. The point that needs mention here is that the battery is removable.
