The Motorola Moto G4 and the high-end Moto G4 Plus are the latest smartphones to join the growing list of Android Nougat updates, but this is happening in India.
One member of the XDA forum has come out with the details showing that indeed the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are receiving the new update. The update carries version number NPJ25.93-11 and with it, you will find November’s Android security patch. This means that the Moto G4 handsets are receiving Android 7.0 Nougat and not Android 7.1.1 Nougat because the latter carries December’s Android security patch.
In case you have been a keen follower, it is not the first time we are reporting about the availability of Android Nougat for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus users in India. Back in October, it was reported that the update had already begun rolling out, however, this was nothing more than a soak test that had started somewhere in South America’s Brazil. This meant that only a small section of the group using the Moto G4 could access the update as the Lenovo-owned company was only but testing the software on the device before pushing through with full deployment.
Whether this latest release of the OS is another small deployment or the full rollout is still unknown. But according to the look of things, the number of people trying to flash the firmware on their Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus handsets is huge, meaning the OTA files are not yet available for download. The good side of the story is that the update might be rolled out to all regions across the globe at once, but as for now, it is not known when exactly this will happen.
We will follow up the matter and let you know when you can expect to see the latest Android Nougat update on your Moto G4 or G4 Plus handset.
