It has been a busy year for Motorola in many ways and it seems that the company are gearing up for another launch before the end of 2016.
The Moto M has been rumored for quite a while and, recently, leaked pictures claiming to be the device were available. Now, most of the specifications of the device have been leaked along with an estimated launch date. After having announced that the Moto Z, it would take a lot of features from the Moto brand in order to make headlines. The Moto M seems to do the job by virtue of having a great mix of features.
It is rumored that the device will have a 5.5-inch screen along with a 1080p resolution. It is quite possible that the display may not offer many high-end technologies like AMOLED screens. The resolution suggests that the display will be a more basic affair in order to keep costs low. However, the screen size has been rumored for quite a while and the latest rumor is more towards revealing the processor and battery specifications.
One of the standout elements of the device will be its rumored 5100 mAh battery, which may just be one of the largest smartphone batteries around. One can expect this battery – even on the phone with 5.5-inch screen – to easily last for two days. A snapdragon 625 processor is reportedly at the heart of the device offering decent performance although not class leading. Simply by the lack of the snapdragon 821 chipset, it is clear that the Moto M will not be positioned as a top of the range Motorola device. Instead, it is likely to be a value for money proposition.
Interestingly, this new processor will come with the new 14 nm technology from Qualcomm. In the past, this has led to extremely efficient smartphones and one can expect more of the same on the Moto M. When this processor is combined withthe 5100 mAh battery, it could potentially lead to some excellent results in the battery life tests. There may be two versions of Moto M with the 6 GB model meant exclusively for the Chinese markets. This may be in line with Samsung’s recent philosophy of introducing the Galaxy Note 7 with 6 GB of RAM only in China before the model was pulled off.
Latest rumors suggest that the Moto M will be available as early as in December.
