Motorola Moto Z and Moto G4 Lineup Set to Receive Android 7.0 Nougat Updates Starting Q4 2016

Android 7.0 Nougat

Android users are never at peace when it comes to new software updates. OEMs will go to Twitter or make press releases on how they will be updating their compatible devices with the latest OS, but as usual, specific dates or even months are rare to come by.

Such is the case for Motorola and its latest announcement with respect to the Moto Z, Moto G4 handsets and Android 7.0 Nougat updates. All of these phones were launched this year and as expected, they will be part of the Nougat update. However, Motorola has not mentioned any specific date as to when this process will kick in, but there is hope in what the company has given out.

Apparently, the Moto Z and Moto G4 series will be getting the new Android 7.0 Nougat beginning this coming Q4 2016, a new report can confirm. As noted earlier, there is no specific date, but as we all know, Motorola was the fastest when it came down to releasing Android Marshmallow. With this in mind, we expect the same to re-occur with the Nougat treat.

For those who paid for a Moto Z Force from Verizon or went for an unlocked version of the Moto Z, be sure that Android 7.0 Nougat will be running on your device before the end of this year. This also includes the Moto Z Play, a cheaper version of the flagships. One issue, though, is that carriers tend to take longer with updates after they have been released by major OEMs, but hopefully, this won’t be the case with Verizon.

Even though the Lenovo-owned company remained tight-lipped with respect to Android 7.0 Nougat updates for the older Moto X, the mid-range Moto G4, Moto G4 Play, and Moto G4 Plus have been confirmed to be part of the update.

Remember, saying that Android 7.0 Nougat will be pushed to the Moto G4 and Moto Z handsets starting from Q4 2016 doesn’t necessarily mean that owners of these devices can start having the updates as from October 1st. In addition, it doesn’t in case imply that the update should be here by the time Q4 2016 comes to a conclusion. So, don’t be surprised if only one or two of the seven handsets in the Moto Z and Moto G4 series is (are) updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat by the time 2016 comes to a conclusion.
