Under the bonnet, the Volkswagen Golf GTE is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI turbo petrol engine and the 8.7 kWh lithium ion battery can deliver up to 31 miles on a single charge. The battery on its own renders a speed of 81 miles per hour in pure EV mode. There are four different driving modes to choose from and the E-mode is used to activate the electric motor ensuring that the petrol engine is fully disabled.
