The Nokia 6 was launched in China and initially, it was meant for the Chinese market only. However, the phone seems ready to make it out of mainland China, with Taiwan set to be the first destination.
HMD Global launched the Nokia 6 back in January and since then, the phone has only been available in China. While rumors came from the Philippines late in January claiming that the phone will go on sale in the country starting January 26, this hasn’t happened. In fact, the Phone Arena reported that the phone had been listed on Lazada Philippines, but a quick look at the website yields no results of the Nokia 6.
Towards mid-January, a variant of the Nokia 6 surfaced with a different model number compared to the Chinese variant. Where the latter has model number TA-1000, the mystery variant had model number TA-1003. The phone appeared at the Bluetooth SIG for certification, something that triggered speculations that the phone was being readied for a global launch.
Now, in a new report, it seems that indeed this Nokia 6 variant with model number TA-1003 will be launched outside China, with the Taiwanese market set to be the immediate beneficiary. This phone has now appeared at the NCC for certification (National Communication Propagation Committee) and if all goes well, it will be launched very soon.

Despite the change in model number, the Nokia 6 TA-1003 is expected to keep the same specs as the TA-1000 variant. This means you still get a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD resolution), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is powered by Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The back has a great 16MP snapper with support for LED flash while the front ships with an 8MP shooter. You’ll love the audio quality of the Nokia 6 thanks to the Dolby Atmos and dual amplifiers that deliver louder, moving audio that is also very powerful. To keep the phone alive is a decent 3000mAh battery, but there is still no mention of the phone’s price in other markets. In China, the phone goes for CNY 1,699, which is about $245.
