Nokia 9 Appears in Benchmarks with Snapdragon 835 SoC and 4GB RAM

Nokia 9

We’ve been hearing rumors and speculations about an alleged Nokia 9 flagship phone from HMD Global being in the works.

The Finnish company has not said a thing about this Nokia 9 phone, but the number of rumors doing rounds and the rate at which they are coming in could suggest that the company is indeed working on a flagship phone to accompany the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. This comes from a Geekbench listing that shows off some of the hardware and software specs of an unknown HMD Global smartphone that matches a lot of what has been said regarding the Nokia 9.

The phone, which carries model number TA-1004, will be a flagship offering with not so strange specs on board. Similar to other 2017 flagship phones, the Nokia 9 has been benchmarked with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC running the show. Alongside the powerful processor is a decent 4GB RAM and in terms of software, the phone will be powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

There’s nothing more we get from the Geekbench benchmarks in terms of specs and features, but the listing has some scores for the single-core and multi-core tests performed on the alleged Nokia 9. Where the former recorded a score of 2255, the latter managed a massive score of 7770, well ahead of the likes of OnePlus 5, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Samsung Galaxy S8 and any other current phone in the market.

OnePlus 5 recently leaked with scores of 1963 for single-core tests and 6687 for multi-core tests, beating any available competition from Samsung and even Apple. With the Nokia 9 showing off some really impressive scores – although courtesy of Geekbench 3 as opposed to others’ Geekbench 4 – we could end up with a new champ as far as performance is concerned, especially since the phone should stick to the near-stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat that the likes of Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 are using.

As for the rest of the specs, we’ve recently seen leaks suggesting that the Nokia 9 will ship with a 5.27-inch QHD screen, moving away from the previously-rumored 5.5-inch panel. The back will come with a dual 13MP+13MP camera and for storage, you can expect 64GB with room for a microSD card. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back while the 3.5mm audio jack has a place on the top of the phone. For charging and connectivity purposes, the Nokia 9 will give you a USB Type-C port.
