Key specs of Lenovo S5 were mentioned in a Weibo post by Chang Cheng, the executive of Lenovo. The hardware specifications of the smartphone look very promising. Right from providing an extended battery life to an amazing processor, it has everything buyers would expect from a mid-range device. A heavy competition exists between Xiaomi and every other manufacturer in developing markets.
While Lenovo had some good smartphones in the past, the newly leaked S5 sounds like a worthy competitor to take on the Redmi Note 5. When Xiaomi’s CEO commented last week that the Note 5 will have Snapdragon 636 processor and 6GB of RAM, Lenovo’s VP responded that their phone is much more reliable, responsive and offers stellar performance.
Lenovo S5 Leaked Specs Sheet
From today’s Weibo image, the specifications of the Lenovo S5 can be confirmed. The original image had Chinese text but when translated, it confirmed that the phone will be powered by a 2GHz Octa-core processor combined with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. The brand will offer another variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space.
The upcoming model, S5’s specs got leaked in a TENAA listing which is now been confirmed by the photo found online. The phone has a bunch of impressive features including an AI smart engine to support face unlock, Google lens, safe payment methods and runs on ZUI interface. The battery capacity is confirmed to be at 3,000 mAh which with proper software tweaking and UI will last longer than most other models in the same price range.
Lenovo Vs Xiaomi in the Chinese Market
Lenovo is going head-on with Xiaomi in the Chinese market. The companies have a strong presence in countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil among others. China continues to be a lucrative smartphone market where there are other players like Vivo and Oppo.
Lenovo’s entry with the Lenovo S5 which will be competitively priced to take down Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will get launched probably in the same month. The phones will run on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system while S5 adds additional features like an all-metal finish, face unlock and more.
Xiaomi may have to come up with similar or better features and a bezel-less design in order to retain their position in the smartphone market.
