The OnePlus 3 is not a true flagship killer that many have hoped, but it still remains an extremely capable smartphone.
At an attractive price of just under $400, the OnePlus 3 also provides great value for money like the predecessors. Initial offerings of the device received large amounts of criticism due to aspects like poor RAM management and display color accuracy. OnePlus came up with a huge update with the OxygenOS 3.0 that attempted to correct several of such issues and it was quite successful at that.
Now, OnePlus 3 has started receiving its next major update which brings out several improvements and addresses many bugs. The OxygenOS 3.2.2 has started rolling out in different parts of the world. It will bring aspects like improvement to the Doze mode notifications. Users have also complained about issues with the alert slider, which is a favorite part of the phone just like in the predecessors. The presence of the slider switch allows users to switch between normal, priority, and silent modes at the flick of a switch.
The fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 3 has been rated as one of the quickest in the business. However, users have complained about the fingerprint scanner causing a lot of issues when the phone is in the pocket. The new update disables the scanner when it senses that the phone is in a pocket. NFC was a feature sorely missed in the previous versions of the OnePlus phones. OnePlus 3 came with NFC, but it did not have the option to switch on or off this feature through the quick settings toggle. The OxygenOS 3.2.2 update brings the ability to add a NFC better in the quick settings menu.
Video recording has been one of the severely criticized elements of the OnePlus 3. Even though the phone comes with optical image stabilization in its 16-megapixel rear camera, the videos are shot with the rear camera are not closer to phones that are seen as a competition – the Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S. It still remains a sore point even after the update, but the OnePlus 3 now gets better noise cancellation in the videos. Aside from these improvements, there have also been several bug fixes. Further, OnePlus 3 with this new update is now difficult for hackers to gain access since it comes with the latest set of patches from Google.
