OnePlus 3 vs. LeEco Le Pro 3 – A Battle of Budget-Priced Flagships

OnePlus 3 vs LeEco Le Pro 3

If we have any phone that has significantly been underrated is the OnePlus 3. Despite having a huge list of promising hardware specs and features, the phone still doesn’t match the following you get with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, among other top Android flagships.

Now, it seems the OnePlus 3 is getting a tougher competitor in its class – the LeEco Le Pro 3. This phone, like the former, comes from a little-known Chinese OEM that has recently made the jump into the American market. Boasting the same price tag as its OnePlus counterpart, the LeEco Le Pro 3 has the advantage of carrying better hardware specs than the OnePlus 3 flagship. But is this everything? Here’s a look at the OnePlus 3 vs. LeEco Le Pro 3 flagships in terms of specs, features as well as pricing.

Design and display

In terms design, Chinese OEMs are rocking it these days. The two phones have excellent all metal unibody designs, but you will notice the smaller bezels of the LeEco Le Pro 3 as compared to the OnePlus 3. You get just about the same thickness of 7.4mm on the latter while the former has 7.5mm, however, there is a slightly small difference in the height, with the OnePlus flagship having 152.7 mm as compared to the 151.4mm of the LeEco handset.

The display size is the same for both phones – 5.5 inches – however, you get an IPS LCD panel on the LeEco Le Pro 3 as opposed to the Optic AMOLED panel found on the OnePlus 3. This should mean the overall battery consumption for the latter is less compared to the former. Still, you get the same 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution on both panels.

Hardware and software

As far as the internal specs are concerned, there is a Snapdragon 820 SoC inside the OnePlus 3 alongside a huge RAM of 6GB. You also get non-expandable storage of 64GB. On the other side, the LeEco Le Pro 3 packs the latest Snapdragon 821 SoC alongside a slightly smaller RAM of 4GB. This model is paired with a storage option of 64GB, but like the OnePlus 3, there is no microSD card storage. There is word that a Le Pro 3 model with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM may be unveiled at a later time, but there is no guarantee that this will be coming to the U.S.

The LeEco Le Pro 3 packs a huge 4070mAh battery that also supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology from Qualcomm. This means you get to fast charge the huge battery in a shorter time, much more like the OnePlus 3 that uses Dash Charge. However, the latter comes with a smaller 3000mAh battery unit. Both handsets come with a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C connectivity, among other latest standard features.

Camera and price

The LeEco Le Pro 3 comes with a rear snapper of 16MP, featuring PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, HDR and face detection, but there is no OIS. On the flipside, the 16MP on the back of the OnePlus 3 carries PDAF, LED flash, HDR, face detection as well as OIS. Both lenses have the same f/2.0 aperture. The front side has an 8MP sensor on the two phones, but the OnePlus 3 gets a larger aperture of f/2.0 as compared to the f/2.2 found on the LeEco Le Pro 3.

In terms of pricing, the two phones are valued at $399. The newer LeEco Le Pro 3 is currently selling at a $100 discount for anyone who signs up for the company’s LeRewards program, meaning you only pay $299 for a flagship phone.
