Even as OnePlus are just preparing for the launch of the OnePlus 3T today, rumors about the next phone from the company have already started coming through.
The phone is likely to be named as the OnePlus 4 and it promises to be truly spectacular. Even going with the rumors feels like reading through a Christmas wish list, as some of the elements of the device are truly great.
For starters, it is set to come with a snapdragon 830 processor along with 8 GB of RAM, which would be a major step for the industry as a whole. Since the OnePlus 3T is expected to offer the same 6 GB of RAM as before, it will not be a major step ahead in terms of performance. However, the OnePlus 4 has the capability to take up the performance figure by several notches if these rumors are to be believed. The OnePlus 3 is already excellent when it comes to multitasking largely down to the 6 GB of RAM. One can expect a major jump ahead with 8 GB on-board.
Since the improvement does not seem to be limited only to the memory, OnePlus 4 should be one of the fastest when it comes to the smartphone segment. Ideally, the launch of this new device would come in June 2017 – as only then would it mark 12 months of the OnePlus 3. Apart from the snapdragon 830 processor, the phone is also set to come with 128 GB of on-board memory. This feature may not be surprising considering that the OnePlus 3T is already expected to come with this feature.
For all the display critics who have been not satisfied with the 1080p screen on the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 4 is rumored to possess a 5.3-inch display with 2K resolution. This would bring it on par with the other smartphones, although the reduction in display size does seem surprising. The OnePlus 3 has some of the cleanest bezels in the market, and there is every possibility of same 5.5-inch display being employed without any issues. Rumors of a slightly smaller display hint that the phone is keen on enhancing the battery life.
Battery life may be a major talking point considering that rumors predict the presence of a 4000 mAh battery. This will represent a whopping 1000 mAh increase over the existing capacity on the OnePlus 3, which is considered as average in this respect.
