Pre-Order a Google Pixel, Pixel XL and Get a Free Google Project Fi SIM Card

Google Pixel, Pixel XL and Google Project Fi

The Google Store has opened up for those who want to pre-order a new Google Pixel or Pixel XL phone that launched this week.

There had been a lot of hype building before the launch of these two phones, especially after Google filled New York City with ads of the Pixel event. Well, a lot of what was expected was met by the search engine giant, but there are still some surprises for you.

As you all know, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, like any other Google-owned phone, runs on stock Android OS, with v7.1 on board. Apparently, there are some nifty additions to this OS that make the Pixel phones unique when compared to the likes of Google Nexus 6P or even Nexus 5X, which also run on Android 7.0 Nougat. For instance, you will get a full integration of Google Assistant, Google Allo as well as Google Duo apps on the phones right out of the box.

As for the specs, the two have a lot in common. You will find the same AMOLED screens, a Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB/128GB storage options as well as 12.3MP/8MP camera lenses. However, the Google Pixel has a smaller screen size of 5 inches with Full HD resolution while the Pixel XL has a larger screen size of 5.5 inches with QHD resolution. Due to their sizes, you also get different battery capacities, with the larger XL having a 3450mAh unit as compared to the 2770mAh unit found on the Pixel. Things like fast charging, fingerprint scanner as well as USB Type-C connectivity are available on both handsets.

Like the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6, the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL come with support for Google Project Fi. This service uses a new type of intelligent technology that aims at getting you the fastest network connection with the best quality regardless of your location. This connection can be either Wi-Fi or any of the partnering LTE networks, that is, Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile.

The good thing with Google Project Fi is that you will only pay $20 per month to access unlimited talk time and messaging as well as $10 for 1GB of data. It gets even better with data usage where you only pay for what you use, with the balance over the payment period refundable. Still, you can keep using this same data and talk time when visiting 135 other countries across the globe.

Now, if you pre-order a Google Pixel or Pixel XL from the Google Store, you have room to add a free Project Fi SIM card on top of the order and with this, you should be able to sign up for this simplified plan.

      1. Why would you want a SIM without service? Calling it “free” when purchasing a Pixel is just a marketing tactic… they’re already free.

      2. You can ask a representative that you lost your sim or need a replacement and they will order one for you for free or you can go to the Google store and just order one for FREE
