Google’s Project Fi is fast expanding as the service provider recently expanded their international roaming plans.
After making the service available nearly 170 countries, the company has announced that all new customers who buy a phone from them will get $80 service credit.
Just a day ago, Project Fi announced that they are going to provide the best international coverage possible and will allow their dedicated customers to travel easily with free roaming services. The service provider previously covered about 100 countries which has now been expanded to 170 countries in total. It includes some unique additions like Uganda, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan among many others.
The best part about this is that Google has access to all your international flight bookings if you use Gmail as your primary e-mail address. Project Fi makes use of the information gathered through this as it will let users know if the country they are traveling to is supported in their international roaming zone. If the bookings that you made is one of the supported countries, the official Project Fi app will immediately send you notifications that you will be able to make and receive phone calls seamlessly on the go. Users do have the option to switch off notifications but it is advisable to keep it turned on so that you don’t have to buy a new SIM card while roaming or have to rely on expensive international calls using a different cellular service.
The latest announcement confirmed new Project Fi users who sign up for the first time ever to their services can get $80 in service credit. There is a condition to be met though, as new subscribers should not only sign up for the services but should also buy one of the supported phones from the services. The available models include Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel XL or the Moto X4 Android One edition. The official announcement further states that those who purchase the phone should activate it within 30 days of receiving their shipment and keep their account active for the next 30 days.
If you are planning to make use of this offer, make sure to avail it early as it ends on February 28 and it works only with email ids that were never activated on Project Fi so far. The recently announced discount on specific models like the Pixel XL continues which now sells for $549. Considering the impressive hardware specifications, the pricing is very affordable. A similar offer is now on the Android One Moto X4 which is now available for $249 and a great deal for new Project Fi subscribers.
