Xiaomi Mi 6

Xiaomi Mi 6 has been in the rumors for a while now and with the MWC 2017 tech show drawing even closer, there are much more rumors and speculations coming in with respect to this flagship.

The Chinese tech giant is expected to announce the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the coming weeks, but it has not said a thing about it. Nonetheless, numerous leaks have been doing rounds with regards to this Xiaomi Mi 6 phone suggesting that it could be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2017 in Barcelona.

According to fresh leaks coming from China, it appears that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be released in mid-March. In addition to this, the same rumor also adds that the phone will begin trial production this February, but there is no specific date so far. If this is true, we could get a chance to see a few units of the Mi 6 at the MWC, which starts on February 27th and ends on March 2nd, ahead of the said mid-March release date.

The incoming Xiaomi Mi 6 has gotten many fans of the company and Android in general excited. The company debuted a new smartphone design with the Xiaomi Mi MIX – an almost bezel-less phone with more than 90% of the front panel occupied by a 6.4-inch display screen. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 also went the Galaxy Note 7 or S7 Edge way, coming in with a nice, curved dual-edge display screen.

Previous rumors have shown that this should indeed be the new way for not just Samsung, but also Xiaomi. The Mi 6 will reportedly come with several variants. For starters, there will be a version powered by a MediaTek Helio X30 processor and another based on the Snapdragon 835. Where the former will probably use an IPS LCD flat screen with Full HD resolution, the latter will reportedly come in with a dual-edge OLED panel and 2K resolution.

The Helio X30 variant will be the entry-level variant, thus coming with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 835 model will further come in two – one with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage while the high-end variant will ship with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. Like the Xiaomi Mi 5S, the Mi 6 is rumored to be turning to an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that lives on the display screen.

The Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus had a dual-lens camera on the back. Whether this feature will also appear on any of the three Xiaomi Mi 6 variants is still unknown, but the latest reports claim that there will be an improved 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor. The phone will also get a battery unit of at least 3000mAh in capacity.

As usual with Xiaomi phones, the price of the Xiaomi Mi 6 shouldn’t make you break the bank. Rumor has it that the entry-level model will be valued at CNY 1,999 ($290) and the Snapdragon 835 variants will be valued at CNY 2,499 ($360) and CNY 2,999 ($435).
