As per a YouTuber, the much-awaited game could be out in the first quarter of 2026!

If recently made claims by a leaker turn out to be genuine, Resident Evil 9 might be launched in the first quarter of 2026. Now, this new rumor tells us that one would not have to wait too long for the game to arrive.

Resident Evil Village, launched in 2021, happens to be the last mainline entry in the franchise. After that, of course, one has also witnessed the launch of the remake of Resident Evil 4, which achieved a lot of success. To date, the remake has sold more than 10 million units and broken the sales record of all other games in the franchise, as far as the pace of sales is concerned.

For a very long time now, fans have been wondering when they will get to see the next game in the franchise. As stated earlier, one has come across a plethora of rumors about the Resident Evil 9 remake in the recent past. One of the rumors has stated that the protagonist in the game will be Leon S. Kennedy.

ScreenFire Germany’s Andi has just claimed that Capcom has plans to launch Resident Evil 9 between January 1 and March 31, 2026. The YouTuber has also stated that the game will be officially announced during the Summer Game Fest, which is set to begin on June 6. Andi’s claims were responded to by Aesthetic Gamer, also referred to as Dusk Golem, who is widely known to be one of the reliable Resident Evil leakers. With Dusk Golem finding merit in Andi’s claims, the latter’s statements have received a lot of attention.

A while back, Dusk Golem had stated that Resident Evil 9 would prove to be a huge reinvention for the franchise. As per the leaker, the alterations made in the upcoming survival horror game would be at par with Resident Evil 4 and 7. Given the scale and ambition associated with the project, one expects the studio to try out a lot of interesting things.

There could, however, be some disappointment in store for fans as well. Based on leaks that emerged in the past, many gamers have been expecting Resident Evil 9 to be an open-world game. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. As per some revelations made by Dusk Golem, the developing team of Resident Evil 9 worked with an open-world multiplayer concept, which has now been scrapped.

The leaker shared some more interesting details about Resident Evil 9 and its development. The development process of Resident Evil 9 started shortly after the launch of Resident Evil 7. The latter did not take off immediately. Fearing failure, the studio put a pause on the development process of Resident Evil 9. However, once the sales of Resident Evil 7 improved, the development process of Resident Evil 9 got back on track.
