HTC has already confirmed that HTC 10, One M9 as well as the mid-range One A9 will be the first to receive Android Nougat when it is released by Google probably next month or in September.
This is great news for all those who rock the three 2015 and 2016 smartphones from HTC, however, they are not the only ones which will be receiving an early Android Nougat treat. In a new report, Canadian carrier Rogers has just but confirmed the imminent arrival of Android Nougat on the HTC Nexus 9 tablet.
Of course, this tablet is one of the few Google Nexus devices that will be receiving the Android Nougat treat. In fact, it is among the beta testing devices, which means it will receive the OS first when it is made official. But with Google still to name a specific date as to when the new Android Nougat will be here, Rogers seems to be moving fast with its updates, listing the HTC Nexus 9 Android Nougat update as “coming soon” in the latest firmware schedule update.
Based on previous cases, “coming soon” could represent anything from a few weeks to several months, maybe one or two. In short, it is possible that those using the Nexus 9 on this Canadian carrier will be able to update to the new Android Nougat probably next month or in September. The list of devices to be updated is expected to grow further, with the likes of Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P as well as Nexus 6 joining the party.
As usual, Rogers has followed this released schedule with a disclaimer stating that the mentioned dates could be subject to change at any time. Google is expected to unveil the stable version of Android Nougat this August or September and follow the release with the announcement of two more Nexus devices believed to be codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. The former will succeed the Nexus 6P while the latter will succeed the Nexus 5X.
