A new Samsung phone with a model number of SM-G889F has appeared on Geekbench. There is no confirmation on the name of the device yet.
Since it features the Exynos 9810 chipset that powers the Galaxy S9 series of flagship phones that were unveiled last year, it could be a new premium phone from the company.
On Geekbench, the Galaxy SM-G889F has scored 3130 and 9050 respectively in single-core and multi-core benchmark tests. The Exynos 9810 chipset that powers this mysterious Samsung phone is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. The Android 9 Pie OS comes preloaded on the device.
In January, a variant of the same phone with model number SM-G889A was approved by Wi-Fi Alliance. The exact identity of the SM-G889 is not known yet. Since Galaxy A8s that was unveiled in December has a model number of SM-G887, it appears that SM-G889 could be its successor.
Rugged Samsung Galaxy S9 Active?
However, in February, popular tipster Roland Quandt had claimed that the Samsung SM-G889 is an upcoming ultra-rugged high-end smartphone from the company. He even called it as the “rugged Galaxy S9.” So, could be it the Galaxy S9 Active rugged smartphone?

Other rumors suggest that Samsung SM-G889 is a mid-range premium smartphone that will be heading to India with a price tag of around $500 to $600. Now that the smartphone has appeared on Geekbench, it appears that the company could be internally testing it before making it official.
So far, Samsung has launched numerous A-series of smartphones this year. It includes A10, A20, A30, A40, A50, A60, A70 and A80 phones. Hence, there is a possibility that the Samsung SM-G889 could be the Galaxy A90 smartphone or its variant. Readers are advised to wait for further reports to confirm on the moniker of the phone. More details of the smartphone are also expected to appear in the coming weeks.
