Rumor: Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S7 Sport Makes an Unofficial Appearance

While rumors have been doing rounds regarding the possible release of AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, it has emerged that Sprint is also lining up a Samsung Galaxy S7 Sport.

These speculations come from the fact that an unannounced variant of the Galaxy S7 has been spotted on Zauba. The phone, which has the model number SM-G880, is believed to be a Galaxy S7 Sport and it is likely that Sprint will take the exclusive rights of selling the device in the U.S.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active leaks have been all over the web since March, with the device believed to be headed to AT&T and has model number SM-G891A. The new leak suggests that the SM-G880 model might be a variant of the S7 Active, which is probably the Sport variant that was last offered on Sprint back in 2014 with the release of Galaxy S5. Last year, AT&T went ahead with the release of Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, but Sprint did not refresh the Galaxy S5 Sport variant from the previous year.

It is not the first time a Samsung Galaxy device has leaked on this site – which is actually a site that lists import details of products. As noted earlier, the leaked device has model number SM-G880 and it is valued at about $479. At such a price tag, there is no doubt that the phone in question is a flagship and nothing to do with the mid or low-end tiers.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Sport

Well, there is no truth in any of this information regarding Samsung Galaxy S7 Sport, however, if this materializes, we will possibly see a device with similar hardware specs as those available on the leaked Galaxy S7 Active or rather, the flagship S7. In addition to featuring a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels, the Galaxy S7 Sport will also come with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, Adreno 530 GPU and a RAM of 4GB.

Other features will include a 12MP rear snapper and 5MP selfie camera as well as Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. While the Galaxy S7 Active will possibly be released in the coming weeks, we may have to wait for some time to see if the leaked SM-G880 is indeed a Samsung Galaxy S7 Sport.
