Samsung Galaxy S7 is still very fresh in the smartphone market, but rumors of a new Samsung Galaxy C7 smartphone cannot be ignored.
The company is reportedly working on a brand new Galaxy series to add to the Galaxy A and Galaxy J series introduced last year. With rumors pointing to a possible Samsung Galaxy C7, it is possible that this device could be the closest many buyers could get as far as the Galaxy S7 is concerned. In short, this device will be a high-end mid-range smartphone that carries some of the specs that have made Samsung Galaxy S7 feature on many experts’ lists as the best phone in 2016.
As noted at the beginning, Samsung Galaxy C7 is still a rumor and even though a recent Geekbench test revealed that the company is indeed working on a C-series device, it cannot be guaranteed that it will be named Galaxy C7. With this in mind, here is what we know so far about the rumored Samsung Galaxy C series.
According to SamMobile China, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy C series will feature very thin profiles and will be made of metal. There are also other reports pointing to a mixture of glass and metal so as to give the phones a premium look.
Samsung Galaxy C7
According to the latest rumors coming from Korea, the Galaxy C7 will carry monster specs under the hood, but it will still be classified as a mid-range phone. While the phone will undoubtedly struggle to beat any of today’s flagship smartphones in terms of specifications and features, it may have a point to prove when pitted against some of last year’s top models.
In the leaked benchmark, Samsung Galaxy C7 will come with an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at a speed of 2.0GHz. This chip is still very new as it was made this year February and in fact, it uses the same build process as the Snapdragon 820 SoC used in the flagship Galaxy S7. This chipset version is a lot better than Snapdragon 617 thanks to the energy efficiency it offers over the older chipset.
It gets even better as the rumors claim Samsung will pack a 4GB RAM in the Galaxy C7 in addition to 32GB of expandable onboard storage. As far as the display is concerned, Samsung will go for a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution. Unlike the flagship, Samsung Galaxy C7 will pack a similar 16MP snapper on the rear as that available on last year’s flagships.
Samsung Galaxy C5
With Samsung Galaxy C7 already taking center stage, there is also news of the Korean tech giant coming in with another Samsung Galaxy C5 to match other mid-range variants such as Galaxy A and Galaxy J series, which feature models in the same categories.
As far as Samsung Galaxy C5 is concerned, expect a slightly smaller 5.2-inch display screen, but there is no word on what the resolution will be. Under the hood, the phone will pack a Snapdragon 617 SoC and a similar RAM of 4GB, but this cannot be confirmed just yet.
At the moment, there is no official confirmation from Samsung regarding the release date of Samsung Galaxy C7 and Galaxy C5. However, rumors are rife that the devices will be unveiled in China this coming month, with no promise of an international rollout. But with some reports claiming that Samsung might be looking to replace the Galaxy A series with this new line of Galaxy C smartphones, we may see several models launch in different markets across the globe in the near future.
We’ll keep you updated.
